My Earth-bound years & God

I pray in the small hours,

in the quiet, instead of saying

I love you. Words I will never say

but still I thank those who bow

their heads on my behalf;

those who hold me tentatively

between heaven and hell.

I pray as if lying.

As if keeping decade-long buried secrets.

I say I am a woman

not a subject. That my faith

is in me alone. I do not say

I love you – I ask questions.

I pray in the small hours

my dandelion wish will meet truth,

that the chicken bones

will not find my cat’s throat,

for the chance to live

without so much ache.

I do not say I love you

because I shan’t be needing you

when I’m dead.

Very introspective poem. I ask God questions too. I especially asked lots of questions when I was young and living in a powerless nightmare. God answered my prayers with miracles then many times.

I pray for all my WordPress friends and I love each and everyone. I know that some people may think I am weird because I sign with “love Joni” but I truly mean it.

I love the stanza where you talk about the things you think about. Very sweet indeed. I certainly pray for you along with everyone else.

I know you love trees as do I my friend so I thought you might enjoy this bit of Psalms 96

“Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy. Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭96:11-13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God also talks about trees clapping. I believe that we will be able to talk to trees and our lost pets when we get to heaven.

Love you my friend. I am glad you don’t mind me praying for you. I love your beautiful writing, your talent is a gift I get to enjoy and be blessed by. I hope you have an amazing week and I am sending you prayers for all things beautiful in your life. Big hugs 🤗 too. Love 💕 Joni 💕❤️🌸💖
