Are egos more than shadows?
Can they unsew themselves
from our Peter Pan bodies
and explore the world for their own?
Are egos just like ghosts?
Separating themselves from the souls
which massage them
to torture and haunt those who left them.
Is it your ego which continues
to appear to me in bed?
In this house I have built
for myself and a for a man
who isn’t yourself.
Do you feel better for knowing
you still visit me?
Parasitic dreams and could have beens
relying on nothing but the bitter
taste and sustenance
of a past which never made the future.
Are egos more than shadows
and can I wield this needle
and thread, as if it were a weapon?

We’re all, haunted by the memories of a lost love that we once had, at one time or another in our lives, and, it’s us who aren’t, willing to let them go, not them, who’s, haunting us…

Unless there is an assumption that all the people in our past are ‘lost loves’…
