The night we met

body heat inches apart

too cold a breeze

to sit outside

(hands acting for our hearts)

but the waterfall

trickling into a basin

(wholly artificial)

tricked us out of winter

into summer

so the coats drawn

about our shoulders

(your smile in mine)

felt like peach sunshine.
