It’s fitting
one of our most
lust filled meetings
(lips crushed like petals,
hand along a thigh
and the whistle
of catching breath,
and birds)
took place along
an unbeaten path
in a forest
bigger than you imagine
but smaller than
our love.
It’s fitting
because a path
no one takes
is how we found
one another.
Hidden and secret
beaten by twigs
and overreaching leaves,
we love in loud silence
(a tongue which tastes
of sugar
and a heart blooming
with peonies
and daggers).
It’s fitting
because we
were dwarfed
by trees
a hundred years old
as luscious green
as our new born
desire, because
fairytale expectations
have taught us
it is wrong
to love like this
(one hand cupping chin
whilst the other
charms the magic
from within).
To love like adults
with the firm belief
this will last forever.
Not because we are
chasing a happy ending
but because we have
each other.

It gave me a very vivid image of a couple walking in a forest, and of how the leaves smell, and of the way everything is more intense when you are in love.
