Luna’s Love

The moon blushed

each time she saw him.

She curled the corners

of her pale oval eyes

into a smile

and bade him welcome.

He visited her each night.

Come rain or silver,

he blew kisses for her

to catch and stow

in the dusty hearts

of stars.

These stars shone ever brighter in the sky.

He visited the lady of light

in the hope of reaching

his love;

snuggled up and delicate

hidden and touched

only by a dappled ray

of reflected night.

He hoped a single kiss

of Luna’s love would be enough

for the stars

to deliver his wishes;

kisses unto his love’s

shoulders and cheeks

and his promise to always be there

each night she falls asleep.
