Take My Heart

Take my heart

and make me whole.

Tie ‘one day’

with ribbons and bows

and surprise me

with the choice to be

all you need.

To be the morning lark –

whose sweet song

fills the messy bedsheet air

and combs music through your hair.

Take my heart

and teach me how

to sing a sunset –

to warble peaches and roses

as Helios sinks

and Selene rises,

from the loins of horizon.

Take my heart

and lead me

to a mirrored lake –

to look into my future

and see more than one

reflection.

Take my heart,

please,

it is yours

to keep.
