Inky Heaven

The gentle rumble of the stopped car

melted into the cold metal,

encasing the little woman,

wrapped in cotton

as her chin lifted skyward

slowly, moonlight on glass

caressing the sweetness

of underside skin,

her eyes swelling with stars

dotted above her brow

in a sea of midnight,

a cloudless oasis

of wishes and meteorite.

Time passed as the world shifted

still with her gaze lifted

to an inky heaven swirled

with flickering light and love stories

played out for millennia

a galaxy of kisses,

she grew cold in her rapture

held by a pin prick of light

already dying and yet

in the watercolour pools

of her eyes, the night sky

had never looked so alive.
