He sat and told her to be lousy
Be awful, incongruent
Be the girl she saw everyday
The one she shuns in the mirror.
The ordinary one, who clocks in and out
Of work, conversations and friendships
Who runs more than she fights
Rolls her eyes before she listens.
He sat and told her to be quiet
Hidden and dreamless
Considerate of futures she has
Little ownership of, now that he is here.
Remember she is not alone
Only when she desires to be something more.
It sounds lousy, but she listened,
Listened until she couldn’t hear it
anymore.

Day 14 – Write a bad poem, make it as lousy as you can, do everything wrong, let yourself be awful.
Whether this poem is lousy or not, I definitely fixated more on the word ‘lousy’ rather than ‘trying to write badly’.
